Brixton Society Stall
The tour shows how shopping grew from nothing to make Brixton South London’s biggest shopping centre by the 1920s. The development of shopping was one of the key elements in the development of Brixton and a vital part of its history.
We explore this development as we walk through the various markets and shopping areas. Included in the walk is a copy of the book Brixton Markets – a heritage walk, which otherwise retails at £2.
Nearest tube/train station: Brixton. Buses 2,3, P4, P5, 35, 45, 59,109, 118, 133, 159, 196, 250, 322, 333, 345, 415, 432
Limited spaces so please book.
Meet up at the Brixton Society Stall in Brixton Station Road (SW9 8PA).
Look for us along the stalls from Brixton Road to Popes Road as we never know where we will be until the day.
We will be there from 12.00. The walk will leave at 12:30 from the corner of Beehive Place and Brixton Station Road, and it lasts around an hour and a quarter.
